Baena, 29, played under current Spurs coach Mauricio Pochettino at Espanyol in Barcelona derbies against players like Lionel Messi during a six year spell at the club before moving to Rayo Vallecano.

He put in a 91 game shift at the Madrid side, scoring four goals before a move to Granada in the Segunda Division last season where he played another 23 games.

Now he has finalised a deal to move to the A-League in a deal with Melbourne Victory.

Granada confirmed the move with a very brief statement on their website: "The Granada Football Club and Melbourne Victory have reached an agreement for the assignment for a season of midfielder Raul Baena to the Australian team."

He joins Japan World Cup veteran Keisuke Honda and Swedish World Cup striker Ola Toivonen as  another key visa signing for the club.
