The new design is the club’s second generation of adidas kit since signing a five year deal with the leading sports brand back in 2011.

adidas’ global design team worked closely with both players and Melbourne Victory management to select colours, necklines and materials in an effort to improve the strip and optimise player performance for the new season.

Headlining the big changes in 2013/14 is a fresh colour approach for the away kit, with the selection of an aqua and white combination.

The choice has sparked debate online, with some fans claiming it is too similar to the colours of interstate rival Sydney FC.

The new home kit features a slimline and contemporary update of the iconic Melbourne Victory Chevron, including adidas climacool technology. The updated Chevron was designed taking into account overwhelming feedback from supporters for a slimmer ‘V’.

adidas's history in football dates back to 1954 when adidas’ founder, Adi Dassler,  invented the world’s first screw-in stud boot that was used by the German team in the 1954 FIFA World Cup.

Since then adidas has enjoyed an ongoing partnership with FIFA and leading global football brands around the globe including AC Milan, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Real Madrid.

The new Melbourne Victory strip and supporter gear will be available in adidas Sports Performance stores, the Melbourne Victory Merchandise Shop and leading sports retailers from September 1.
