While the Middle East hasn't been immune from the pandemic's financial affect, it has been insulated somewhat, with a larger than usual bank balance to begin with.

With an enhanced focus now on Asian talent, Australians are in prime position to cash in on big money moves to the Middle East.

And with uncertain futures at their current European or Asian clubs, such as Tom Rogic's future at Celtic, a big paycheck later in their careers - despite the potential national team ramifications - appears an easy decision in the current climate.

Adam Taggart's K-League club, Suwon Bluewings, have all but confirmed that the in-form Socceroos striker won't be there next season.

The K-League has been hit hard by the current COVID pandemic but the Middle Eastern leagues are still going strong, as evidenced by Mitch Duke's recent big money move to Al Taawoun from Western Sydney Wanderers.

Taggart's K-League side have also admitted there is heavy Middle Eastern interest in the striker and told The World Game that even normally, it would be hard not to sell.

“There is a lot of interest from Middle Eastern teams in the K-League right now,” a Suwon official told The World Game.

“The league is talking of a pay cut as revenues have fallen and that means players will be more willing to go and teams will be under more pressure to sell.

"We have received a number of enquiries about Taggart from clubs in the Middle East. Even in a normal situation, it would be hard to keep him and this is not a normal situation.”
