SYDNEY star Robbie Middleby broke David Beckham's rib in their crunching collision at Telstra Stadium, the megastar revealed today.
The pair collided going for the ball in the exhibition match between Sydney and LA Galaxy.
Middleby ran into Beckham, catching him low in the chest, winding the star and sending him flying.
The challenge sparked a furious reaction from Beckham who gave the Sydney star a foul-mouthed spray.
Beckham got his revenge a few minutes later when he hacked down Middleby and earned a yellow, telling the Aussie: "I owed you that."
The two made up with a manhug that left both players grinning.
But now the former England captain has revealed the first challenge actually broke him.
Beckham went on to play the entire match against Wellington Phoenix with a broken rib, he told The Sun newspaper in the UK.
"I could hardly run or breathe in New Zealand," Beckham said.
"It's the fifth rib I've broken recently."
Beckham played the full 90 minutes against both Sydney and Phoenix.
