AAMI Park has been a happy hunting ground for the Sky Blues this season, taking maximum points from both Melbourne teams from three visits.

City managed just three out of 16 shots on target as Sydney proved to be too clinical with Mierzejewski and Bobo in fine form once again.

“I wish we could play here every week - one game at Allianz Stadium and one game at AAMI Park,” Mierzejewski told FourFourTwo.

“We like to play here to be honest, our coach said in his press conference during the week that it’s our second fortress.

“In this moment we’re really strong and I hope Bobo will be the top scorer, one of my goals before signing was to make him a goal scorer. I hope he’ll beat some records this season.

“It’s a good result, we came here to take three points. The first 15 – 20 minutes wasn’t easy like two weeks ago against Melbourne Victory, but after we woke up, we scored our first goal and after that everyone could see our quality.”

Sydney now turn their attention to South Korean outfit Suwon Bluewings on Wednesday night in their Asian Champions League (ACL) opener.

The Sky Blues have now put the pressure on second-placed Newcastle Jets who face Western Sydney Wanderers away next Friday.

While many would be forgiven to think the hard work would start now for Sydney, Mierzejewski said professionals should be accustomed to playing midweek games.

“In Turkey and Saudi Arabia, we played every three days, so it’s normal for footballers to play this way and it’s the best part, it’s better to play games than train,” The Polish star said.

“I hope we’ll enjoy the Champions League, we’ll try become premiers as soon as possible, so we can focus more on the ACL. It won’t be easy, but the first game is at home, so I believe we can take three points.”
