REAL Madrid sporting director Predrag Mijatovic described his side's Champions League mauling at the hands of Liverpool as both painful and worrying.
Madrid were dumped out at the last-16 stage for the fifth successive season after being thrashed 4-0 by Liverpool at Anfield to complete a 5-0 aggregate defeat for the Spanish champions.
"It's a very sad result, very painful. Once again we've not been able to get beyond the last 16. Liverpool were very good in both the first leg and second," said Mijatovic on Spanish television channel Antena 3.
"We weren't in the game from the first minute until the 90th. It's a very painful defeat. We have to be worried because we've left a very bad impression."
Madrid's elimination means they now have only the Primera Liga title to play for, having already been knocked out of the Copa del Rey.
In La Liga, Juande Ramos' side are six points adrift of leaders Barcelona with 12 games remaining.
