Around 330 young football players aged 6-15 from NSW, ACT, QLD, VIC and New Zealand attended three weeks of coaching practice under five visiting AC Milan Youth Academy coaches, including Daniele Massaro, a World Cup and Champions League winner.
Massaro remains one of AC Milan’s all time top scorers having netted 80 times for the club during his brilliant football career and was capped for Italy 15 times. In 1994 Massaro scored a wonderful double for AC Milan against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League final which Milan won 4-0.

When asked about the level of football skills he and the other coaches encountered during the past three weeks, Massaro said: "We worked with some very talented young footballers here in Sydney. The players responded very positively to our technical and tactical tuition and we hope to have contributed to their development as footballers and team players."
Cormac Begley, Director of Football Development Australia, the official AC Milan partner for ANZ said: "We are very happy with the results of this first initiative with AC Milan. FDA specializes in bringing overseas expertise to Australia and I am pleased that aspiring Australian football players were able to benefit from the vast experience of the five Italian coaches, of which two hold the top UEFA coaching license."
Kalac Greets MJC Participants
Former Socceroo Zjelko Kalac visited the last of the three Milan Junior Camps run by Football Development Australia at the Sydney Olympic Park.
Massaro and Kalac spent 30 minutes with the MJC participants answering questions about representing their respective countries at the highest level at the World Cup and playing for the football giant AC Milan. Kalac offered MJC participants advice on staying motivated and how hard work may one day result in playing for Milan at the San Siro.
Milan Junior Camps
AC Milan Junior Camps are currently run in 22 countries around the world and every year give more than 10,000 local junior footballers the fantastic opportunity to work with members of the AC Milan Youth Development Coaching team.

For the first time ever, football loving kids in Australia took part in Milan Junior Camps run by Football Development Australia (FDA), at the Sydney Olympic Park in January 2007. The five-day program is designed for children who are experienced football players as well as those who are new to the game.
The AC Milan Youth Development coaching staff offers high level expertise and uses skills and techniques that are applied to coach junior players at the world renowned AC Milan Academy in Italy. The coaches were flown to Australia by FDA for this limited period to help develop the football skills and to improve technique, teamwork and tactical awareness of Australian children aged 6-15 in a fun and safe environment.
