The Rossoneri appear to be in pole position to acquire the Brazil playmaker, but they consider Barca's financial demands excessive for the 2006 FIFA Player of the Year.

"The certainty is that we want the player and he wants us but if Barcelona continue to ask a high price nothing will be done," said Galliani.

"There's no update and things are going slowly."

Ronaldinho, who is under contract with Barcelona until 2010, has endured his worst season since he joined the Catalan side from Paris St Germain in 2003.

The 28-year-old has been plagued by injury and fitness problems and, having started only 13 of the club's 30 league games so far this season, is set to miss what remains of this year's Primera Liga campaign.

Ronaldinho has also been linked with Milan's city rivals Internazionale and Manchester City.

Galliani also revealed that Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati, who is on loan at Atletico Madrid, is "highly likely to return to the club" this summer.

And Galliani brushed aside speculation regarding Gennaro Gattuso's future at the club.

Reports in Italy have linked the veteran midfielder with a move away from the San Siro.

But Galliani stated: "He (Gattuso) is a big fan of Milan and I believe there will be no problems. He will not leave."
