Adelaide United winger Nikola Mileusnic has a clear memory of the moment equipment manager Milan Sofranic called him over to make his debut in Friday night's 1-1 draw with Brisbane Roar.
Mileusnic came on for Marcelo Carrusca in the 65th minute and managed eight successful passes as well as witnessing team-mate Sergio Guardiola equalise with 12 minutes remaining.
The 23-year-old holds a petroleum engineering qualification but has placed football as the priority for the next 12 months.
“It was brilliant, it was amazing, that’s what I’ve been working on for a long time now and I finally got the chance, so I’m very grateful and very happy,” Mileusnic said.
“It’s much different looking from the grandstand when you get on the ground, it’s so much different, you have the fans… it’s just an amazing experience.
“I think what I remember most is when Milan came and called me while I was warming up - that was a bit frightening, it was an amazing feeling.
“(My thoughts) were just going a 100mph, it was just crazy and phenomenal, no words to explain it.”
Mileusnic conceded he’ll be fighting to retain a spot for the next game. Adelaide is the only club without a win this season, sitting dead last, and with just two points accumulated must fly west to take on Perth Glory at nib Stadium on Friday.
“We’re still playing well, we just need to keep working hard and those results will come," he said..
“I know we’re in a pretty tough position, but we can’t moan around, we have to take the opportunity and keep working hard. We’re not going to fix things by being negative.”
