Northern Ireland Under-21s manager Roy Millar paid tribute to Kieran McKenna following tonight's narrow victory over Finland in their friendly in Ballymena.
The Tottenham midfielder scored a superb equaliser from a 25-yard free-kick in the 79th minute.
That was the catalyst the province needed, and Jonny Taylor sealed a 2-1 victory with five minutes to go with a cool finish in a crowded penalty area.
It was a second straight victory following the defeat of Moldova in June.
Millar said: "I gave McKenna man of the match for his overall performance.
"Some of his tackling and some of his passing was excellent. I was very pleased with him."
McKenna almost pulled the province level earlier, after Jami Puustinen had put the Finns ahead in the 18th minute.
However, he looked on in disbelief when goalkeeper Anssi Jaakkola pushed his effort onto the post.
Northern Ireland's fightback delighted Millar, with European Championship qualifiers against Germany and Luxembourg to come next month.
He said: "Obviously I wanted to get a result, but the performance pleased me.
"It wasn't easy to play against Finland, because they got everyone behind the ball.
"But in the second half we stepped it up, and I was delighted at that."
