KENNY Miller is hoping his goalscoring start to the season will continue for the sake of Scotland as well as Rangers.
The striker helped himself to a double in last week's Clydesdale Bank Premier League opener against Falkirk to ensure the Scottish champions began their defence of the title with three points.
He fully intends to hit the target again when Rangers travel to Tynecastle to face Hearts on Sunday.
But, with a crucial World Cup double-header against Macedonia and Holland at Hampden looming next month, Miller is also aiming to hit the heights for the national team.
He said: "We've got two huge games which are going to decide if we make the play-offs or not.
"For me, I want to stay in the Rangers team because if I'm in the Rangers team and scoring goals, it's always nice to go into an international on a bit of good form and on a hot streak.
"I've got a couple of games before then and if I can stay in the team and maintain that form I'll be over the moon."
A crushing 4-0 defeat in Norway earlier this month has left Scotland's hopes of qualifying through the play-offs hanging in the balance.
But Miller insists it is possible for George Burley's men to lift the doom and gloom which has descended upon the nation in the wake of the defeat in Oslo.
"Of course it is," he said.
"We have been here before, in fact we have probably been in a worse position before five or six years ago.
"We had a big lift under Walter Smith when he came in and Alex McLeish maintained that and took us to the brink of the Euros from a very, very tough group.
"From the highs of that, it has been a disappointing campaign so far.
"We wanted to have the second spot tied up and, to be fair, we probably could have if we had got that result last Wednesday and possibly a better result in Macedonia.
"But we've got to use the next two games to put it right and give it or best shot and hopefully that will be enough."
