Miller, a Republic of Ireland international and former Manchester United, Celtic and Sunderland player, has played alongside Keane in the national team over recent years.

And Perth Glory's off-season UK recruit knows what a treat it will be to see a current international play in Melbourne.

“He’s probably our main player and he leads the team so well with his goal-scoring for Ireland," Miller told au.fourfourtwo.com.

Keane’s recent move to Galaxy after a stellar Euro career where he was a huge fan favourite at Spurs was crowned with an MLS Cup win on Sunday.

The Irish winger was in regal form including having a seemingly good goal disallowed. But it was Keane's sublime through ball for Landon Donovan that set up the decisive goal in the 1-0 win.

“He’s a really good leader on and off the park. He knows how to find the back of the net. He’s served his country well and I’m sure there are plenty more years left in him," added Miller.

With Kewell and Brett Emerton hogging the headlines, Miller’s arrival into Australia's A-League flew somewhat under the radar.

But he’s enjoying his time in Oz though he will miss this weekend’s historic clash with Brisbane Roar in Queensland due to a suspension picked up against Victory last weekend.

“I’m just taking it bit by bit and really enjoying. But I’m not going to look forward too far. I’m really happy I made the decision to come out here and hopefully

“The standard’s been decent. It’s a really tough league. I think the good thing is any team can take points from other teams.

“Our squad is filled with a lot of quality and hopefully we can go on and do something really good this year. Obviously the boys have come back in Harry Kewell and Brett Emerton and that can only be a good thing for the A-League.”

With the Republic of Ireland qualifying for the UEFA Euro 2012, Keane’s visit to Melbourne is a coup for fans who are also set to see Harry Kewell and David Beckham on the same pitch.

Barry Corr, CEO of the Irish Australian Chamber of Commerce, is thrilled that fans will have the chance to see their hero closer to home.

"With Ireland reaching Euro 2012 - having only qualified for the European Championships once before, back in 1988 - many of our members are recognising this great achievement and are planning trips to follow their heroes in Poland and Ukraine.

“For those of us not lucky enough to be going over there, we can get along to support Ireland's Robbie Keane when he turns out for LA Galaxy in Melbourne next month,” said Corr.
