MARK Milligan is refusing to adopt a 'back up' mentality as he looks to savour his second World Cup experience and push for game time in South Africa.

Milligan was something of a shock inclusion in the Socceroos squad for 2006 but four years on, he feels right at home.
"Being called in so late for the last one, I've been able to enjoy this a little bit more and I'm hoping to push for some game time," the versatile Milligan told News Ltd.
"So far this last week or two have been, I wouldn't say more enjoyable, but a bit more of a reality for me."
Milligan has had a real football journey since 2006 with spells at different clubs across the globe.
Moves to England with Arsenal and Manchester City failed to come off, before he returned to the A-League as a guest player for Newcastle United ahead of a move to Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua. He stayed there for a year before his move to Japan.
"There was a little method to the madness," he said.
"I wanted to see what it was like. I got to train with some great teams, some great coaches and it definitely made me a stronger person. It was part of me growing up as a player and a man."I was a little unlucky at Manchester City because there was the sacking of Sven-Goran Eriksson. We were very close to securing something.
"It wasn't all just fun and games over there. I actually did do well."
Now Milligan is just hoping his ability to play in a number of roles can help him make the final cut of 23.
"I'll play anywhere that needs to be played," he added.
