Peru cannot advance to the round of 16 after consecutive defeats to Denmark and France.

Australia can still qualify for the next round, but they must beat La Blanquirroja in their final group game and hope the French topple the Danes.

But Milligan is tipping the proud Peruvians to come out firing in Fisht and be anything but straight-forward opponents for the Socceroos to defeat.

“We saw the first game, Peru against Denmark, I thought they were very good," he said.

"I didn’t see last night, we were travelling, but we’ll do our analysis. I think the main focus will be on what we will do. The way we have set up from the very beginning of camp is that we want to be able to control the match defensively as well and that's been very important for us.

"I don't think that will be any different. We'll get more into the specifics in the next few days. They’re still a very good side and I don’t think their current standing in the group is going to influence the way they play too much.

"It’s the World Cup, it’s a special tournament and I can’t see anybody giving anything less than their best.”

A draw between France and Denmark in Moscow would ensure both European teams progress and Australia is knocked out.

But Milligan believes the French will go out with the intent to win

“I don’t think any team at the World Cup is going to go out with any other attitude than to win the match,” the midfielder said.

“France have quality right through their squad. That’s totally out of our hands but what we do know is that they will go into that match to win.”
