SOCCEROOS Head Coach Holger Osieck has been forced to make last-minute changes to his squad ahead of Wednesday's (Thursday AEDT) international friendly against Romania.
Melbourne Victory’s Mark Milligan has been rushed into the squad after Mile Jedinak and Tommy Oar were both ruled out with injury.
Crystal Palace skipper Jedinak suffered a fractured cheekbone and broken nose from an elbow to the face in last week's clash against Huddersfield.
Osieck is keen to run the rule over his Europe-based players ahead of a crunch 2014 World Cup Qualifier against Oman next month.
At the half way point of the final round, Australia sit second in Group B of the Asian qualifiers with a win against Iraq (2-1), draws against Oman (0-0) and Japan (1-1) and a loss to Jordan (1-2). Romania are in third position of Group D in their 2014 FIFA World Cup European qualifiers after 4 matches.
The friendly against Romania – ranked three spots higher than the 36th ranked Socceroos – will be played at the Estadio Ciudad de Malaga, Malaga, Spain.
It will be the first meeting between the Socceroos and Romania at senior men’s international level.
Kick-off is at 8:45pm local (6:45am AEDT). The match will be broadcast live by Fox Sports from 6:00am AEDT.
