EXCLUSIVE: Mark Milligan's long-running transfer saga continues indefinitely after sources in Europe say the defender is still seeking a club.
It was reported ten days ago that the Portuguese giant was trialling the club-less Olyroo skipper on the weekend before he went into camp with the Socceroos ahead of the friendly against Holland on September 6.
However, that move has been clouded by the news ther are two unnamed clubs now in the mix for the player.
Milligan has two more options available should these two clubs fall through.
It is unclear if Porto are one of these clubs, but what is clear is that no deal has yet been signed with the UEFA Champions League winners from 2004.
Milligan, who turned 23 in August, injured his ankle during the camp for the Holland game and was ruled unfit for the World Cup qualifier in Tashkent against Uzbekistan.
It is understood national coach Pim Verbeek had provided Porto with a positive reference about the utility player's ability.
The Dutchman also spoke about his desire to see the player find a club sooner rather than later after a six month period of being clubless.
"I am concerned about him, definitely," said Verbeek at the time. "He's young and he's talented, and a player like that should be playing every week, if possible for a big club.
"It's in his best interests to find a club as soon as possible."
Milligan left Sydney FC six months ago.
