“My understanding is that he'll make his way to the camp once he arrives back in the country as soon as practicably possible and from their the coaching staff will sit down and discuss why he wasn't there on the due date,” he told au.fourfourtwo.com.

“I'm not pre-empting any decision on Mark. He needs to put his views forward. And I'll expect that to happen.”

Nevertheless, Buckley was clear that missing national training camps is not something that he takes lightly after Milligan was named in the Olyroo camp but didn't turn up.

He added: “I think we have very clear expectations when a camp is on and a date is set, there needs to be a valid reason why you don't attend on that due date.

"And that reason is communicated with our staff.”

Milligan is due back in Australia on the weekend with his agent Tom Brookes. It's understood that no deal has yet been finalised with any club in the UK or Europe for the ex Sydney FC defender.
