"I said I'm not going to talk about it, so why do you ask me to give a thought about the first game," he told au.fourfourtwo.com when asked at today's launch of the new A-League season.

"I said it clearly, I'm not going out of my way to talk about this game because I'm a man of principle and I believe in what I believe and that's what this is about."

Bleiberg's beef stems from the FFA decision to hold Gold Coast's opening game - their first ever A-League match - in Brisbane rather than on the glamour strip as originally planned.

The speculation following the switch was that it was purely for financial reasons to help cash-strapped Roar through a difficult off-season period.

An estimated 30,000 crowd together with a renegotiated stadium deal at Suncorp would be a significant boost to Roar's coffers.

However, Bleiberg - a former Roar coach who was replaced by current Roar manager Frank Farina - believes the scheduling decision was flawed and says he'll do nothing to assist Roar beyond the minimum requirements.

"Until now, I have no explanation as to why the game was shifted," he said. "I have many theories but I accept the rules of the governing body - but it doesn't mean I have to help."

Some have suggested the stance harks back to a time when football in Australia was mired in petty differences and public spats which didn‘t help promote the game.

Bleiberg disagrees on principle for this first game, at least.

He added: "I do what I can but sometimes when I have my own principle I stick to it. And I'll pay whatever price I have to pay for it and I'm respectable (sic) to FFA and appreciate what they are doing.

"I don't like the decision. I'll do the press conference on Thursday or Friday and I'll talk about it and be respectful to Roar and Frank [Farina] and I'll do everything right... but I won't go out of my way.

"If they want to pay me for it, I'll consider it," he said with a smile when asked about going to Brisbane to promote the derby this week. "But I don't want the money and I don't want to do it. And I don't expect Frank to come to Surfers Paradise when we play at home.

"When we play next game at home, I'll talk all day and all night."
