Former Socceroo Mitch Nichols has been charged with possession of cocaine at a Sydney nightclub.
The 28-year-old was released by the Wanderers last week and busted at Casablanca nightclub in Double Bay on Saturday when police conducted a random drug sweep.
It is alleged Nichols had 1.1 grams of a white powder which authorities believed to be cocaine.
He is due to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Friday, June 9.
His contract was not renewed and the midfielder is believed to want to break into the European leagues.
Football Federation Australia will still have jurisdiction over him once his contract expires at the end of this month.
