Langerak made a succession of quality saves to keep Canada scoreless in the first half of the friendly match with the Socceroos last week, before being replaced by Mat Ryan in the second half.

The Borussia Dortmund keeper has featured in the UEFA Champions League twice and in the Bundesliga once so far this season.

Langerak made his Socceroos debut in difficult circumstances in the 6-0 rout by France, but has remained upbeat after the tough loss.

“Honestly I looked up at the clock after, I think it was 28 minutes, it was 4-0,” he said. “I could be wrong. And I was just thinking ‘You know what, these things happen’.

"As a goalkeeper you have nightmares about the games when the shots just go in the corner, the shots are unstoppable. There’s not much you can do. I think they had maybe four or five shots and it was 4-0 already. It doesn’t happen often but sometimes it does.

“For me personally, I can’t say I was happy, but I came away thinking ‘You know what, I made a couple of saves, did a few good things and you know, it was just one of those nights for us’.

"We bounced back against Canada and showed we can perform.”

Langerak, who claimed a claim sheet earlier this month in Dortmund’s 3-0 Champions League win over Olympic Marseille, was pleased with his performance against Canada at Craven Cottage but is not getting carried away.

“With a new [Socceroo] coach coming in I’m sure there’ll be a few changes,” he said. “It’s normal when a new coach comes in.

"I’m definitely not thinking about now I’ve played two games it’s time to put pressure on Schwarzy or anything like that. It’s up to me to do well every time I get the chance to play.

"I keep myself out of that. If I can play well, perform when I’m called upon and play well then anything can happen.

"But honestly it’s something I’m not thinking about because it’s such a long time before the World Cup.”

Borussia Dortmund are currently second on the Bundesliga table, one point behind leaders Bayern Munich, and sit in second place in their Champions League pool on equal points with Arsenal, who they beat 2-1 mid-week.

The 25-year old described his own start to the 2013-2014 season as “fantastic”.

“It’s going good,” Langerak said. “I’ve played a few games. Obviously I’ve come to the Socceroos and played a few more so it’s been a good start for me.

"The team, we’re doing well, we’re second on the ladder at the moment. We’ve only lost one game. I think it will be a good season for us, hopefully we can continue because there’s a lot of games to be played – Champions League, German Cup.

"I think we’ve got a good chance this year if we can keep our boys fit and keep playing the way we have.”
