Everton defender Joleon Lescott was left struggling tonight to work out whether a point in the goalless draw at Blackburn was a pleasing outcome for the Toffees.
Lescott had one of a small collection of half-chances to break the deadlock in a match which left Rovers in the bottom three of the Barclays Premier League and sixth-placed Everton still within striking distance of Arsenal.
"It is a good point away from home for us. But we need to win games like this to get into Europe," Lescott told Sky Sports 2.
As for his late opportunity, Lescott was again equivocal.
"I was quite confident going up there - but unfortunately I didn't hit the target," he recalled.
The blank scoresheet did not surprise him, however.
"Blackburn are playing well, and we are playing well ourselves. But the defences kept a clean sheet, and it was a stalemate.
"We set our stall out early doors not to concede."

Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce was left to rue his team's missed opportunities, principally Jason Roberts' failure to finish when one on one with goalkeeper Tim Howard in the second half.
"I couldn't fault the team for effort," said Allardyce.
"Unfortunately, we just needed a quality finish.
"In the second half, with the chances we had - you will never get many against Everton - we did not convert. That is probably why we are sat here 0-0."
Allardyce's opposite number David Moyes felt Steven Pienaar ought to have buried a first-half shot, which nonetheless brought a memorable save from Jason Brown.
"Steven had a good opportunity, and I thought he should have scored," said the Scot.
"We are disappointed, because we wanted to take three points.
"A point at Blackburn is not a bad result, but I would have liked to have played better and passed better."
