The Chicago Fire moved to third in the Eastern Conference with a 1-0 home win over Philadelphia Union in the MLS on Sunday.
The Fire, who drew 1-1 at the Montreal Impact on the opening day of the season, scored the only goal of the game after 29 minutes.
Ghanaian forward Dominic Oduro was the scorer, as Philadelphia lost their sixth MLS match in succession.
Elsewhere, Chris Wondolowski bagged a double in the San Jose Earthquakes' comprehensive 3-0 win at Toronto FC.
Wondolowski, who has scored 35 goals in the last two MLS seasons, netted the opener after just nine minutes.
Shea Salinas doubled that advantage on 56 minutes before Wondolowski's second sealed the victory.
Columbus Crew beat the Impact 2-0, thanks to strikes from Milovan Mirosevic and Olman Vargas, while Saer Sene's goal inside the first minute gave the New England Revolution a 1-0 triumph against the Portland Timbers.
In other results, Chivas USA won 1-0 at Real Salt Lake while the Vancouver Whitecaps and DC United played out a goalless draw.
