Real Salt Lake and Sporting Kansas City continued their perfect starts to the MLS season with impressive wins on Saturday.
Fabian Espindola and Paulo Araujo were on the scoresheet as Real Salt Lake recorded a 2-0 win over the New York Red Bulls at Rio Tinto Stadium.
Argentine Espindola made it two goals in as many games when he got on the end of an Araujo pass and blasted a shot through the legs of Ryan Meara on 40 minutes.
Araujo netted the second on the hour mark as Real Salt Lake moved top of the Western Conference.
Meanwhile, Sporting Kansas City were comfortable 3-0 winners against a 10-man New England Revolution.
The game turned in the favour of Peter Vermes' team when Stephen McCarthy was red-carded on 15 minutes for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity.
Graham Zusi scrambled in the opener after half an hour, before Kei Kamara doubled Kansas City's advantage.
Charles Sapong completed the scoring when he finished off a neat passing move three minutes after the restart.
Elsewhere, a hat-trick from David Estrada helped the Seattle Sounders start their season with a 3-1 win over Toronto.
Davy Arnaud and Dominic Oduro traded goals as the Montreal Impact played out a 1-1 draw with the Chicago Fire, while a 14th-minute penalty from Brad Davis saw the Houston Dynamo battle to a 1-0 win over the San Jose Earthquakes.
A diving header from Jay DeMerit handed the Vancouver Whitecaps their second straight win, a 1-0 victory at Chivas, while Darlington Nagbe cancelled out Blas Perez's goal to see the Portland Timbers collect a 1-1 draw at Dallas.
