Newcastle Jets have squeezed into the top six after a 0-0 draw with second-placed Melbourne Victory at McDonald Jones Stadium on Monday night.
In a match rescheduled from Saturday due to the weekend heatwave in the Hunter, the Jets dominated and had the better of the chances against a sluggish Victory.
Chinese import Ma Leilei and midfielder Steven Ugarkovic both drew smart saves from Lawrence Thomas in a cagey first-half.

The Jets continued to threaten after the break with Thomas denying Hoole again, while Morten Nordstrand and Andrew Nabbout also went close for the home side.
