QUEENSLAND Roar defender Craig Moore has announced his retirement from international football following Australia's 3-0 win over Qatar.
The 32-year-old former Newcastle United and Rangers star played 78 minutes of the Group One 2010 World Cup qualifier before being replaced by Brett Holman and decided to call time on his Socceroos career on national television after the game.
Moore, who currently plays for A-League side Queensland Roar, made 39 appearances for Australia and scored three goals, including one against Croatia at the 2006 World Cup finals.
"That will be the last time for me," he said on FoxSports. "It was a great way to finish it off; a job well done and I'm really pleased with the career I've had with the national side.
"It's always a sad time when you're finishing up but I'd rather go out on my terms.
"I believe that I wouldn't be there for the 2010 campaign being back in Australia and I wish the boys all the very best.
"I'll be following their campaign and I hope they a fantastic one."
