Striker Luke Moore has revealed his desire to sign a new contract with Aston Villa and be part of the club's long-term future under manager Martin O'Neill.
Moore has just under a year remaining of his current contract and O'Neill is keen to sort out a new deal for the England Under-21 player sooner rather than later.
There has been speculation linking Moore, who missed most of last season after undergoing shoulder surgery, with a move away from Villa Park as competition for places increases up front.
But he is happy to stay at the club he has been part of since the age of eight and help O'Neill return Villa to the glory days.
Moore said: "I've spoken to the manager (about a new contract) but these things take time. I've been here since I was eight so I don't really need to say where I want to be.
"There have been a few clubs that I've been linked with but that's out of my hands. All I know is that the manager is trying to sort out a new contract for me which means I'm in his future plans.
"Ideally I'll be staying here. If the boss says he wants me to stay then that's good enough for me. I've got a year left of my current contract but it's not a problem. I'm relaxed about it."
Moore is keen to make up for lost time after starting last season in a wide role in a 4-5-1 formation before undergoing surgery in October for a problem which had troubled him for the previous three years.
He said: "I've had to be patient over the past year and work hard to get myself up to full fitness. I'm close to that now, touch wood.
"I want to be part of the future here. We all have great confidence in the manager. Like most of the young players here, I've been getting confidence from what he has been saying."
