CRAIG Moore has hailed Chris Coyne's 'fantastic' job for the Socceroos and expects a tough fight for a central defensive berth against Qatar.
Moore, back in the squad after emerging from international retirement, has nothing but praise for the way Coyne - bizarrely not even a first team regular at third tier club Colchester United - has taken his chance with the Socceroos.
Moore told the Herald Sun: "Coyney's come in and done a fantastic job for the national team.
"Of course you'd love to play. I'd be disappointed if I didn't because that's the kind of person that I am.
"But for me the most important thing is that the Australian team does well and qualifies for the World Cup."
As for Coyne, he is just loving life in the green and gold. He said: "The strength and depth is fantastic. It means you can't put a foot wrong. It doesn't let you get complacent."
