BRISBANE Roar skipper Craig Moore insists the best is yet to come from the Queenslanders after scoring the goal that secured the 1-0 victory over Central Coast Mariners.
The defender's 11th minute header against Central Coast Mariners was the difference between the two teams and ensured the Queenslanders picked up their first A-League win of the season at the fourth attempt.
The Brisbane captain just hopes the result provides the platform to kick on and start pushing further up the table.
"We're just pleased to pick up three points finally," he said. "The boys in there are happy with the result but we still know that we can play a lot better.
"I think that was extremely important for us today because hopefully off the back of this win now we can grow in confidence and look to get ourselves slowly starting to move up the table."
As for his international ambitions, Moore remains confident.
"I spoke to Pim before he announced the squad, I'd be a little bit concerned if I was the only one left out, but that's definitely not the case," Moore said.
"I'm at the age now where maybe traveling ... if it's not needed to be done, it's probably better for me (not to)."
33-year-old Moore suggested a possible appearance at the 2010 FIFA World Cup was still on the cards, should he be playing at the standard required.
"My discussions with Pim were along the lines of 'I'm not going to include you in this squad, get yourself ready for the game against Holland' ... and that suits me," he said.
"I'm like any other player, the form needs to be good and I need to be on top of my game otherwise there is every chance you get left out of the squad."
The bad news for Roar in the 1-0 win was an injury to Matt McKay. He was forced off after 25 minutes following a collision.
Roar are back in action next Saturday when they travel to face North Queensland Fury in Townsville.
