The 34-year-old defender will not be at the Asian Cup next year, ending his international career after the Socceroos finish up in South Africa.

Moore is without a club at the moment after returning from Greece early to freshen up and he is unclear where his career is heading.

"At the moment, I really don't know," Moore told The Age. "This will certainly be my last time with the national team. I have had 15 great years with the national team. I have enjoyed every bit.

"I won't be around for the Asian Cup."

While his international career is drawing to a close, Moore wants to remain in football, even if it is not in a playing role.

"Domestically, I don't know what I plan to do," he said. "I have fiddled about with a few ideas.

"What interests me is possibly not playing, but taking on a role as the director of football at a club. I'm trying not to think about it until after the World Cup."

But his decision is not final.

"I might have a completely different view after the World Cup. Something might come up and I might say 'I fancy that'," Moore said.

The former Rangers captain is confident his preparation for this World Cup campaign has been better than in 2006, despite a rusty 45-minute appearance in the farewell clash against New Zealand on Monday night.

He added: "Personally, I believe my preparation this time round is far superior to the last time.

"I played the last eight Premier League games with Newcastle before the World Cup ... whereas I have had 35 league games under my belt this season.

"I took the break at the right time so, no, I am extremely happy with where I am at just now and my fitness is not a concern."
