CRAIG Moore's pre World Cup action was shelved at the 11th hour when the FFA requested his absence from the weekend's teamsheet just as his international clearance arrived at Brisbane Strikers.
Since returning fromĀ a spell in Greece with Kavala, Moore had been training with Brisbane Strikers, coached by former Roar defender Stuart McLaren.
He was hoping to get a few games under his belt to keep up his match fitness but red tape thwarted his attempts to play.
The Strikers have revealed that clearance finally arrived from Greece ahead of their weekend clash with the Queensland Academy of Sport, only for the FFA to politely request that Moore would be better served just heading into camp with the Socceroos - the risks outweighing the benefits of 90 minutes action.
A Strikers statement said: "Moore's clearance arrived on Wednesday. However Football Federation Australia, which had calculated that the potential gains to Moore's fitness from playing two QSL matches outweighed the possibility of him getting injured in those games, revised its opinion this week.
"In a sign of just how important the national body believes Moore is to Australia's Word Cup campaign, it advised the club that it felt the fitness gains for Moore from playing just one match no longer outweighed the risks to him and that it would prefer to call him into camp on 12 May without match practice under his belt."
