Australia defender Craig Moore will not feature for the Socceroos at the Asian Cup after being excused by national team coach Graham Arnold.
Moore, who was ever-present at the 2006 World Cup, has endured an injury-plagued English Premiership season with Newcastle United and will also miss the June 2 friendly with Uruguay.
The 31-year-old has postponed any plans for international retirement and has declared his intention to play on and take part in the 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign.
"I'm not going to the Asian Cup," Moore told The Daily Telegraph. "I've experienced the cut-throat situation of a tournament and I've struggled with injury this season so it won't be of any benefit to me.
"It's far more beneficial for the younger lads. I've struggled physically to get right for those sort of tournaments so having struggled with injury of late, it's better for me to have a proper break and build up for the beginning of next season."
Moore was released by Newcastle at the end of the English domestic season and has been linked with a move to A-League outfit Queensland Roar.
"I haven't played my last game for Australia. I've still got a lot more to offer and I've got a big part to play in the national team, especially if I come back to play in the A-League," he added.
"When the time comes, I don't think I'll need Arnie or anyone to tap me on the shoulder and tell me."
