The former Rangers stopper confessed: "I would have wanted to stay but if it's not meant to be, then it's not meant to be

"I've loved it at Newcastle. If I could have changed anything, it would have been that I would have played more football but, unfortunately, I've been injured a lot."

Now Moore is looking ever more likely to move to the A-League next season after after he was injured again in Newcastle United's loss to Manchester City

The burly defender has battled with his fitness over the past season and was only playing his second game since being out for four months with a hamstring injury.

He has started in just 23 games since arriving at Newcastle from Borussia Monchengladbach two years ago.

Now his latest groin strain after 73 minutes could see him missing the rest of the season as Newcastle battle to avoid relegation.

But it also puts his whole future with the Magpies in doubt as his contract expires at the end of the season...and there's no new deal on the table.

Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder has already said he will be having a summer clearout of older stars at the club - and Moore is one of those in the firing line.

The axe from Newcastle could prompt Moore to swap the English Premiership for the less gruelling demands of the A-League.

The Australian 24-game season might be more suited to his injury-prone physique compared to the marathon 38 games plus Euro matches he faces in England.

There's no shortage of A-League clubs that could use his experience in the backline, but Moore may baulk at the massive salary drop required to return to Australia.

"It is a groin problem which I think will keep Craig out for a few weeks again," revealed Roeder.

"I will make sure the players realise that, whether they have a contract or whether they don't, if I don't get the performances I expect, they are not going to have a future here long-term.

"It's up to me and it's up to the players. A manager can only do so much. When the players go across that white line, they have to perform. If they don't, then changes have to be made."
