Socceroo Aaron Mooy believes he’s a better player as a result of his loan move to Huddersfield Town particularly playing in his unfamiliar defensive midfield role.
The 26-year-old provided an A-League record 20 assists for Melbourne City in the 2015-16 A-League campaign before his switch to Manchester City which led to his loan to Huddersfield.
Mooy has been a star with the Terriers in a more defensive-minded midfield role, last month being named in the Championship Team of the Season.
The Sydney-born midfielder’s form has helped Town’s push for promotion but also led to speculation about his future.
Mooy was adamant his opportunity with Huddersfield had benefitted him greatly.
“I definitely think I’ve improved especially in the position I’m playing,” Mooy told HTTV.
“I didn’t play it that much before but now I think I know how to play it well.
“It’s always good that you can play two different roles.
“I don’t mind which positon I play, I just like to play football.”

The former Bolton junior added that he never expected to have such success at Huddersfield from an individual and team perspective.
“I came and tried to improve and enjoy my football,” he said.
“The team has done really well. We’re sitting third.
“We’ve still got eight games to go but we’re in a really good position.
“I’ve really enjoyed playing with this team.
“Hopefully we can keep winning games to the end and push up as high as we can.”
Huddersfield, who are due to play Norwich City overnight, sits fourth on the Championship table, 10 points outside the automatic promotion spots.
