Several English reports are claiming newly promoted Huddersfield and Mooy, who is currently in Russia with the Socceroos, have agreed to the club record deal.

Mooy's agent Paddy Dominguez confirmed to FourFourTwo that no deal has been signed.

The deal would smash the current record held by Mark Viduka (from Celtic to Leeds United) and Brad Smith (from Liverpool to Bournemouth) worth $10.5m.

Mooy is currently owned by Manchester City but has had no shortage of reported suitors after playing an integral role on loan in the Terriers’ promotion.

The permanent deal is reportedly worth $13.5m initially, with a further $3.2m worth of add-ons.

Mooy celebrates one of his four goals for Huddersfield in the 2016-17 season

Mooy has been linked with several Premier League clubs since earning several accolades including winning Huddersfield's Player of the Year.

He was also named in the English Football League (EFL) Team of the Year and Championship Team of the Year.

Southampton and Brighton & Hove Albion are believed to be other suitors for Mooy, while City also flagged an interest in retaining his services.

City signed Mooy less than 12 months ago following a dominant A-League season with Melbourne City where he scored 11 goals and provided a record 20 assists.

If the deal goes through it would represent a significant profit for the Citizens.

Huddersfield boss David Wagner has been open in his admiration for Mooy, given his impact at the club.

"Aaron has been top class,” Wagner said in mid-May ahead of the promotion play-offs.

“Usually when he plays well, the team plays well – Aaron is the heart of our team.

"He knows exactly when to accelerate or decelerate the game and when he’s under-performed, we’ve often had problems too.

“When you consider how much he’s been involved with the Australian national team, with all the travelling and time differences and things like that, it’s been a very tough season for him but he’s still able to deliver his best."
