Socceroo Aaron Mooy has continued his superb form by scoring his maiden goal for Huddersfield Town in style in a 1-0 win over Leeds United overnight.
Mooy lashed home a fine strike from outside the box on 55 minutes to clinch the victory in the Yorkshire derby.
The strike comes only days after Mooy was nominated for the Championship Player of the Month, missing out to Barnsley's Conor Hourihane.
The result sees Huddersfield extend their lead at the top of the Championship to four points after six games.
Mooy's strike was named Goal of the Day on Sky Sports and comes only days after arriving back in England after Socceroos duty.
Town boss David Wagner said: "The togetherness, the fighting spirit and the working ethic of the players was unbelievable and, with a great strike from Aaron Mooy, we deserved to win it.
“It was just a magic moment from Aaron Mooy."
Leeds boss Garry Monk was fuming that Mooy was even on the pitch for the goal, believing a tackle late in the first half on Liam Bridcutt should have seen him get more than a yellow card.
"Two-footed, off the ground, totally out of control," Monk said.
"I don't want to talk about referees. But if you see that and you can't tell me that's a sending off, I don't know what is.
"It was a horrendous tackle that he made."
Wagner leapt to Mooy’s defence, insisting it wasn’t a red card.
"In England no red card. Germany, red card," Wagner said.
"But we are not in Germany, we are in England. This is what I've learned. This was a pretty hard, British challenge.
"It came too late, but I didn't think for one second it would be a red card because I've been 10 months now in British football and I know, this was not okay, he was too late. Yellow."
Fantastic win today🔥🔥 Fans were class as always👏🏽👏🏽 Congrats to Aaron Mooy on his first goal💪🏽 Roll on Tuesday🙌🏽
