The Socceroos hope to isolate Danish danger man Christian Eriksen to bring home the bacon against Denmark on Thursday.
But Australian midfield general Aaron Mooy says it will need a team effort from the Socceroos to stop not just Eriksen but the rest of the side...and they now need to go all out for a win.
“He’s an excellent player,” said Mooy. “He’s had a great season and is probably Denmark’s most dangerous player.
“We have to keep a close eye on him and stop the supply going to him but we have to do it together effectively as a team.”
They are using their impressive, albeit unsuccessful, performance against France to spur them on to success in Samara on Thursday.
“I thought we had a great performance but the result wasn’t what we wanted and we can build on that and try to take that into Denmark game,” he said today.
“I think the gameplan against France worked well. Maybe we need to tackle a bit more but it depends on the way the game is going. We need a win and hopefully we can create chances and take it on.
“The whole focus is on Denmark now. We have to be at our best if we want to get a result and we need a win.
“The next game is very, very important. If we are going to get out the group then we are going to need to get a result.
“Every game in the World Cup is like a final.”
Mooy is also ready for some post-match banter with some Huddersfield Town teammates who were called up into the Danish squad.
Goalkeeper Jonas Lossl and centre-back Mathias Jorgensen play alongside Mooy at the Terriers.
He added: “Before we went into camp, there was a bit of banter but I haven’t spoken to them since.
“I’m sure after the game we will catch up and have a good chat.”
