Aaron Mooy and Huddersfield Town have been eliminated from the League Cup after going down to Crystal Palace on Tuesday.
Socceroos star Mooy started on the bench and played the final 21 minutes of the clash.
However, he couldn't help Huddersfield find an equaliser, with Bakary Sako's early goal proving to be the winner for Palace.
Mile Jedinak's Aston Villa were also knocked out after a 2-0 loss to Middlesbrough, but the Socceroos skipper was not even in the squad.
Fellow Aussie Jordan Lynden did play a part in the second half for Villa, but Patrick Bamford scored twice to see Middlesbrough through.
Brad Smith played 120 minutes as AFC Bournemouth progressed with a 1-0 win against Maty Ryan's Brighton, but the Socceroos goalkeeper was not in the squad.
Bristol City captain Bailey Wright was on the bench but saw his side advance to the fourth round with a 2-0 win over Premier League side Stoke City.
