This was the first official meeting between the two nations and with some late drama, Morocco fell to Iran, 0-1, due to Aziz Bouhaddouz's heartbreaking own goal.
Morocco were energetic early on through Hakim Ziyach and Amine Harit, but could not convert their chances. Approaching half-time, Iran became more threatening as their accuracy and counter-attacking moves improved. A goalless half, but enthralling nevertheless.
It was a quieter second period, as both sides attempted to build the tempo, but failed to create many chances.
The goalkeepers at either end were essential in keeping the game at 0-0 until, in injury time, Bouhaddouz's header landed into his own net to gift Iran the three points.

Mistimed kick which could have seen him score early, great passes wide to switch play. Dictated the tempo. Not a great second-half.
