According to reports by Spanish radio station Cadena Ser yesterday, a Madrid bodyguard protecting Mourinho was injured at the airport in La Coruna prior to last week's game against Deportivo.

When asked about the incident at a press conference today, Mourinho said: "I don't know anything. I've not seen anything, I didn't feel anything.

"I arrived, went to the hotel, played the game, returned to Madrid."

Madrid have not made any official announcement about the incident.

According to the reports, the bodyguard suffered a four-centimetre cut as the team made their way through the airport.

Mourinho added: "They told me a few days ago that a bodyguard had something on his back done with something sharp. I don't know anything more.

"The matter is closed, for me there is no story.

"I arrived in La Coruna where there were a lot of people in the airport as always. We had the same protection as always with the team. Absolutely nothing has happened to me."

Mourinho was also quizzed on the absence of superstar Cristiano Ronaldo for tomorrow's trip to improving Racing Santander.

Ronaldo has played every league game for Madrid this season and his tally of 27 goals is 20 more than his next-best team-mate.

However, Madrid will have to do without the Portugal international for the Racing game after he suffered a hamstring injury during Thursday's 7-0 thrashing of Malaga, a match in which Ronaldo netted his fifth hat-trick of the season in all competitions.

The world's most expensive player is set to be sidelined for up to two weeks.

When asked about the loss of his biggest threat, Mourinho said: "Cristiano is Cristiano, and he is too important to say that we won't miss him or that we will have the same potential, we aren't hypocrites.

"But we have more players, others who are motivated to give their best, and Cristiano not playing does not change our objective.

"It will be a very difficult game, against a team that are doing well, who are motivated, full of confidence and who play well at home.

"But the objective doesn't change. It's more difficult without Cristiano, but we're convinced that we are going to achieve our objective."

Madrid are seven points behind Barcelona at the top of the Primera Division table, while Racing have climbed up to 12th spot on the back of a six-match unbeaten run.

Aside from Ronaldo, Mourinho will also be without Gonzalo Higuain, who is Madrid's second top-scorer with seven league goals, Kaka, Sami Khedira, Fernando Gago, Ezequiel Garay and Alvaro Arbeloa.
