Sunday's result leaves Madrid two spots above La Liga's relegation zone after two games with only a draw so far this season.

Mourinho did not try to find a positive angle to his team's performance against Getafe and claimed they 'totally deserved to lose'.

"It was an unacceptable game, in this match for me it is not a frustrating defeat," Mourinho said.

"We totally deserved to lose. There are things that a coach cannot discuss with the press.

"I haven't talked to the players.  They have no feedback on what I think and what I have analysed.

"I have to talk to them."

Mourinho did not shy away from the job his side have ahead of them as they are already five points behind Barcelona in the race for the La Liga title.

Barcelona have won their first two games of the season and are on six points at the top of the La Liga standings.

"(The margin) could be six if we had lost the first game," Mourinho said.

"But we are five (behind Barcelona) which is too many points when only six have been contested.

"Today was a different match.  Against Valencia we did more to win, (however), today, we fully deserved to lose."
