Croatian striker Jelavic signed from the Scottish champions during the January transfer window and is set to make his home debut against Chelsea on Saturday.

"He (Jelavic) has settled in a little bit better," Moyes said. "Players who have moved clubs will tell you that it takes a while to settle in - you're moving your family down, you're moving up and down to your own home, so it takes a little bit of time to get over all that.

"He's had a week of training and I'm sure he's starting to settle much better."

Everton have won their last two league games against Chelsea at Goodison Park, and Moyes is hoping they can put together a solid run of form to help propel them up the table.

"We've been looking to build on it (our recent good form) for a while, you always want to do well and win the games, so that doesn't change," Moyes said.

"But yes, we have tended to be better in the second half of the season for whatever reason that is. So let's hope this is a bit of a run that we're on, and that we can keep it going.

"Chelsea are a really hard team to beat and they've got good players, so it will be a really tough game for us.

"But we've always felt that we could compete with the better teams so we want to try and show that."
