Former A-League title-winning mentor Mike Mulvey looks set to continue his coaching journey in Thailand, following in the footsteps of ex-Reds boss Aurelio Vidmar who took over the reins of Bangkok Glass in August.
According to ESPN FC, Mulvey has been in talks with a topflight and second tier sides in Thailand since leaving Malaysian Super League strugglers Terengganu last month.
The one-time Brisbane Roar boss knows something of Thai football after his A-League high-flyers were bundled out of an Asian Champions League qualifier by Buriram United in 2013.
Mulvey described Buriram as a good example of the strides being made by Thai clubs which are largely “privatised, well-resourced and ambitious”.
"I came to Thailand to meet with some people who had a couple of projects they wanted to discuss," Mulvey told ESPN FC. "Thailand is very progressive and competitive, and has a very healthy football culture."
The 53-year-old Manchester born coach has yet to revisit the heights that saw him lead Roar to the 2013/14 A-League double. Axed after a losing start to the following season, his subsequent record in Malaysia with Sabah and Terengganu is modest.
Still, he retains a keen interest in Australian football and plans to be at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok on November 15 for the Socceroos World Cup qualifier against Thailand.
While the Aussies will be taking on a nation still reeling from the passing of their beloved monarch, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Mulvey believes the White Elephants shouldn't be underestimated.
He added: "The fact that the country is in mourning could galvanise them into a strong, and emotional, performance.
"I'm surprised they haven't done better as they have some really good, individual players with impressive technical ability. For the Socceroos to win, they have to be well prepared and to be brave."
