Since injuring his quad in the first week of A-League action, Murdocca has been nursed through a steady rehab as the Roar keep mindful of the long 30-round regular season, and against both Wellington and Newcastle he saw only a handful of second-half minutes.

But strong performances on the training paddock are telling Postecoglou the time has come and the Roar coach all but assured that his midfield workhorse would be unleashed from the opening whistle against the Victory.

"Mass (Murdocca) is very important to us and we wouldn't throw him in there unless we thought he was ready," Postecoglou said.

"He's trained really well this week and he just gives us an extra dimension.

"He's more likely to start than not this week."

The long-serving Roar midfielder, who has been with the club since day one, stands at a pocket-sized 165cm, but his fearless play and tireless efforts in the middle of the park have earned him endless respect.

A stand-in captain at the end of last season - after Craig Moore had left and Matt McKay was suspended - Murdocca's value at A-League level is proven, and Postecoglou says the whole team is itching to have their joker back in the pack and contributing to a big season.

"He wants to have a good season this year," Postecoglou said.

"He had a terrible year last year with injury, so there's no doubt that he's going to be a little bit conservative, but we wouldn't throw him in there unless we thought he was ready.

"The coaches and players see what he can do on the training field and we're eager to have him out there doing it in games."

Another certain to increase his playing time with an extended run this weekend is live-wire Costa Rican Jean Carlos Solorzano.

After enduring a slow process to be cleared to play, the pacey forward had his first A-League minutes last weekend, and with the benefit of match-fitness, Postecoglou says he too can provide Brisbane with added spark.

"(Solorzano) is getting better every week, and he's another one that I think will add a little bit to our side," Postecoglou said.

"Certainly we'll be looking to get him on on Sunday and getting some more game time into him.

"The way we play we virtually set up with a front three. Reinaldo can only play the central role, but Solorzano can play either of the wide roles as well, because he's quick an quite comfortable on the ball.

"He compliments what we've got and once he's 100 percent he'll add something to the team."

Meanwhile, Ivan Franjic will be given another week to recover from a quad strain, while Luke Brattan is another who won't be considered after returning from illness for his first full week of training.
