Kevin Muscat has hinted there will be a number of changes against Shanghai SIPG from the squad that started against Sydney FC.
Victory play their final game of the Asian Champions League (ACL) against Shanghai SIPG tomorrow night, but it's a dead rubber for the Big V who won’t be progressing to the knockout stage.
The A-League finals begin for Victory on Sunday night against Adelaide United, but Muscat said they were still treating the game against Shanghai with the utmost respect.
Muscat was not prepared to discuss individuals, but hinted there would be adjustments in the XI and in their tactics.
“It’s an option (two central strikers), if we decide to go with Pierce (Waring) and Kenny (Athiu),” Muscat said.
“I still haven’t finalised it, but there’s a chance of that happening.
“There’s certain things we factored in in relation to the game tomorrow night and we’ve got a game on the weekend. We’re treating this game in isolation and there’ll be opportunities for some players who’ve maybe not played so much football recently.
“It’s a good opportunity for individuals and the team to go out and put on a performance for themselves, the team and the club. I’m looking forward to it, I’m excited about the opportunity it gives us.”
Victory defender Rhys Williams has a lot of experience in England playing for Championship side Middlesbrough and he said the ACL had exceeded his expectations.
“I always knew it was going to be as good as it is, probably even a bit better than what I thought,” he said.
“I always had high standards of it. Playing in it, you realise how good it is. The group we’re in was tough as well, we were unlucky not to go through in such a tough group.”
