Berisha won the derby for the Victory with 12 minutes remaining as his team overcame a one-goal deficit to beat Melbourne City 2-1.

The Albanian levelled Archie Thompson’s all-time leading scoring record in the A-League, now sitting on 90 goals.

But he conceded in the post-match FoxSports interview that he was unhappy with his first half resulting in “smashing” objects at half-time.

“I didn’t see… If he did smash anything he’d be replacing them himself, I can guarantee that,” Muscat joked.

“I was speaking to him and I asked him to maintain his composure, get into goal scoring positions and he simply said ‘I’ll score in the second half’.

“The self-belief he’s got is unmatched in anything I’ve seen in this country.

“Ultimately we had a move where that final pass was good and it ends up in a goal. Jai’s (Ingham) composure to come inside and pick Marco (Rojas) out and then Marco is composed and it’s an outstanding goal.”

Muscat was also unbothered by Berisha’s matching of Thompson’s record.

“It doesn’t really excite me, I’m sure at some point… I say that and I don’t mean it… I’m really happy for Bes, he’s been remarkable for me and this club since he joined,” he said.

“But if you offer him 20 goals tomorrow or a championship I know what he’d take, so whether he gets the goals or he’s setting them up for someone else, it’s irrelevant.

“It’s a nice individual award, but the only award we’re interested in is what we get to share collectively.”

Muscat also believed the win was justice and all of his squad was “outstanding” from start to finish stating the only disappointment was being level 1-1 at half-time.

The Victory boss was happy with the healthy competition after electing to play Leigh Broxham at left-back as James Donachie was favoured for the recovering Nick Ansell (knee) at centre-back.

He also said he was turning his attention straight away to next Sunday’s game against Central Coast Mariners and hinted Ingham had impressed him after being involved in goals in the past fortnight.

“He (Ingham) keeps knocking on the door, he keeps doing the right things, every time I turn around, he makes sure he’s doing the right thing in training, every time I see him,” he said.

“Therefore I can’t take him out my mind and reckoning It’s difficult spot to cement a place in our team everybody’s got a role to play.

“At this point he’s playing his part very well, he comes on terrifies defenders and he’s been effective.”
