Roar and Victory currently hold the most A-League Championships with three titles to their names but Muscat felt it wasn’t important.

“That in particular gives me no motivation whatsoever, none,” Muscat said.

“We made a commitment as a group at the start of the season that we wanted to achieve something.

“Once you have made a commitment the motivation side of things doesn't really come into consideration.

“If we start worrying about two weeks’ time, and what do we mean, and who gets the name etched in history and whatever it may be.... our focus is clear.

“We will be prepared and ready to go, to put in a performance that's good enough to take us to the next game.”

The Victory boss also said his team was extremely comfortable coming up against a Roar side who are coming back from a midweek AFC Asian Champions League (ACL) 3-0 away loss to Thai side Muang Thong United.

Muscat added he didn’t focus on whether his team had an advantage or not given the ACL game and it was all about themselves.

His men have enjoyed a week off after their last game was over a fortnight ago in a 1-0 win over Central Coast Mariners.

“The reality is we just didn't have a game, we were the first game of the last round, we had a good opportunity to freshen the players up mentally,” he said.

“It was a bit of an indifferent end of the season...so it was just nice to have that weekend to freshen up and then we used that first week to really zoom in mentally and make sure that we were right between the ears.

“You see the first finals and just sense a little bit of adrenalin bubbling away in training that week was superb and this week we have had a really good week homing in on the tactical side of the game, playing against a good team but we are really very comfortable and confident in where we sit.”

The Victory boss also fired up the fans of the Big V.

“Our active supporters, our members and fans have been the flagbearers of the competition,” he said. “It’s great and I feel honoured that we get another opportunity to perform in front of the best fans in the country.

“It’s good. We have always had good games against Brisbane… There's a lot at stake now. We are very comfortable, especially being here at home.

“There will be a great intensity, we will be able to deal with that and put on a performance that's worthy of going to the final.”
