Berisha’s elbow appeared to connect with the face or throat of Roar's Luke DeVere in the 58th minute, prompting referee Chris Beath to brandish a straight red after communication from Brown. Replays suggest contact was minimal.

Muscat said Victory and the FFA had “no grounds” to overturn the decision.

It was announced on Sunday Berisha’s suspension was rescinded and he would be available for the clash against Wellington Phoenix on Tuesday.

“After the game I didn’t want to say too much. Internally as soon as we saw the footage, we knew we had some grounds to appeal,” Muscat said.

“When you watch the footage it’s clear it’s an obvious error. He (Berisha) was disappointed because we felt we could possibly let some points slip playing without him for 30 odd minutes.

“It is common sense because the fact we played 30 minutes with 10 men, I thought was punishment enough. Everybody makes mistakes but what’s important is there’s a system in place that they’ve gone back, had a look at it and rescinded the suspension.

“We move on, we’re just grateful we’ve got a full quota to select for the next week or two.”

“Everybody makes mistakes, naturally the assistant referee thought he’d seen something otherwise he wouldn’t have put his flag up.”

Victory finally play their long awaited clash against the Phoenix after the original Round 7 fixture was postponed due to earthquakes in New Zealand.

Their last meeting ended in a 6-1 smashing in Victory’s favour. But Muscat feels the Nix’s style has changed significantly since the resignation of former coach Ernie Merrick.

Muscat said he was happy with the club’s performances and felt the best is still yet to come from his healthy troops despite a strenuous schedule.

“We’ve been fairly consistent over a period of time and at the same point, there’s one or two consistencies we want to improve on,” he said.

“We played some really good stuff and really asked a lot of questions of Brisbane in that first half hour and then possibly took our foot off the pedal a little bit.

“That’s crept into our performance of late and something we’ve got to eradicate and get better at.”
