Melbourne City downed their sworn enemy Melbourne Victory 4-1 over a week ago in round two of the A-League.

City coach John van’t Schip is looking for his team to bounce back after their 3-2 loss to Perth Glory last Friday at home.

Muscat said he would make the decisions regarding his squad tomorrow and confirmed he had a clean bill of health to choose from.

Similarly, van’t Schip was also waiting until game day before deciding whether Bruce Kamau will partake in the match after copping a head knock in the game against the Glory.

He also confirmed Nicolas Colazo will miss the clash with his ear injury and will see a specialist tomorrow, however could not put a timeframe on his absence.

And there are two teenagers who could play a part in tomorrow night’s game – Victory’s in form 16-year-old Seb Pasquali and City’s 17-year-old Daniel Arzani who came on against Perth last week.

Van’t Schip will consider the youngster but had the opinion that the number of substitutes sitting on the bench should change in order to accommodate young players.

“I think the biggest problem in Australia is we’re only allowed to have four players on the bench. It would be a lot easier if we would have seven like all over the world,” Van’t Schip said.

“Then you could have those boys on the bench, now we have to make decisions, looking at the developing players, it’s important to have those kind of players on the bench that you can give them 15 or 20 minutes during a game.

“That’s much more of a massive value than those boys playing a game for the Young Socceroos. So the combination of that would be perfect, but we’re still not that far, hopefully we can get that done very soon because I think it’s important for the younger players.”

Muscat agreed with his counterpart.

"I don’t really understand what the restraints are on it, obviously finance and cost is probably the biggest one,” Muscat said.

“Depending on how games are going, you might get more opportunities to make different decisions and to get younger players on depending how the game are going.”

With City playing their third game in less than a fortnight, van’t Schip was unfazed about the condition of the team.

“We know there’s going to be a different Victory out there tomorrow than we had in the first game a few days ago,” Van’t Schip said.

“We focus on what we have to do, we’re working hard on that, we’re enjoying it. But we also have to deal with an opponent.

“It affects us (schedule), but it also affects Victory as well, so we’re in the same situation so it’s just making sure the boys are in good headspace, that we take things away from the last game, the first game we played Victory.

“It’s all those kind of things we prepare in a way of making sure everybody’s there to perform, then it’s on the day how things happen.”

Victory coach Kevin Muscat arrived to the press conference late and joked about being “30 seconds late” after van’t Schip refused to wait around for the former Socceroo.

Muscat conceded they needed to learn after their derby humiliation and wanted improvement in the lead-up to the cup game.

Victory is coming from a 2-1 win over Adelaide United away from home and look to build on their momentum.

“There were many things on the night (4-1 derby loss), not too much went right to be honest,” Muscat said.

“There were many things in reviewing the game, our application in relation to what we tried to achieve in the game was nowhere near what’s accepted.

“There was many things, both tactically and within our application there needs to be severe improvement. Especially in that first half going across to Adelaide, there was a big difference in appetite for the game.”
