Melbourne Victory coach Kevin Muscat has opted not to comment on Fahid Ben Khalfallah’s contractual situation.
Ben Khalfallah’s last game was back in the beginning of February managing 61 minutes in Victory’s 2-1 win over Melbourne City at Etihad Stadium.
The Tunisian was pictured in the stands in Victory’s 2-1 win over Adelaide United last night as FoxSports commentator Robbie Slater alleged his omission was to prevent triggering a contract extension clause at the club.
Asked why Muscat left Ben Khalfallah out of his team, the Victory boss said there wasn’t a particular reason.
“Everyone was available tonight,” Muscat said.
“Just selection based on a number of things and in the end that’s a decision.
"After last week as well where I thought we played very well and scored three goals, defended very well without the ball, I didn’t want to change too much tonight.”
In December, Ben Khalfallah told FourFourTwo he eyed a post-playing role either coaching or in the office with Victory but was still keen on playing one more season.
The Victory boss however would not be drawn into commenting on Ben Khalfallah’s current contractual status.
He added: “It’s probably easy for me to say we don’t discuss contractual situations and we’ve been fairly consistent with that.
"That’s probably the easiest thing for me to say and that’s no comment.”
