Melbourne Victory captain Kevin Muscat will appear in the Australian Grand Prix celebrity challenge race alongside some of the world’s most well-known sports stars and Aussie entertainment figures this weekend in Melbourne.
In further proof of Victory’s growing appeal, Muscat will race against surfing superstars Kelly Slater, Layne Beachley as well as radio stars Hamish and Andy.
Muscat and the other racers will drive a BMW 1 Series, a vehicle capable of reaching speeds of more that 215 km/h and an engine that can take it from zero to 100km/h in just 8.7 seconds.
Other competitors include actor Daniel MacPherson, TV presenters Laura Csortan and Jules Lund, rocker Sarah McLeod, comedian Shane Jacobson and former swim great Brooke Hanson.
The notoriously competitive Muscat will no doubt want to add to his A-League double with another win in this high profile event on Sunday.
Other Aussie footballers to have appeared in this celebrity event include former Matilda and TV presenter Amy Taylor, who appeared in 2001.
